Project Climbing Centre to Host SCBC Bouldering Provincials Saturday

Kamloops, BC – Mr. Iain Stewart-Patterson, President of the Sport Climbing Association of British Columbia (SCBC) is pleased to announce that the association’s inaugural Bouldering season will be capped off this Saturday, February 8, 2014, with the SCBC Bouldering Provincial Championships at Project Climbing Centre in Abbotsford, BC.

The Provincials marks the culmination of a successful 2013-2014 Bouldering season that saw the Province’s top climbers participate in four previous local competitions leading into Saturday’s event. The top ranked climbers in all categories now head into this weekend’s competition as the favourites to win it all (see http://www.sportclimbingbc.ca/page.php?rp=rank for full details).

Awards will be handed out Saturday for the competition winners (those climbers placing first, second and third in this specific event in the various divisions), as well as recognition of the BC Provincial Bouldering Champions according to overall final ranking. This competition is worth 40% of each competitor’s provincial ranking, with their top three results from the four previous competitions being worth 20% each.

Competition gets underway Saturday at the Project Climbing Centre at 9:00am with the opening heats and qualifiers for the Open, Junior and Youth A categories. Competition in the Youth B, C and D will begin at 11:45am, while the Recreational and Experienced divisions begin at 2:30pm. Finals for the Open competitors will begin at 7:30pm.

Project Climbing Centre is located at #3-34100 South Fraser Way in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Spectators are welcome and admission to the event is free of charge. Further details on the venue can be found on the Project Climbing Centre web site at http://www.projectclimbingcentre.com or by calling 604-864-2917.
